Here are some images that will be used in the final thesis presentation. Some are WIP others are complete.

MILLED MODEL

For the final presentation, a model has been prepared for the CNC milling machine to get an accurate representation between the buried baths and the surrounding urban condition. The model can be split in the middle to reveal a section of the baths in relation to the square and will also contain a hand-modelled representation of the ground floor and urban streetscape the baths form above ground. The scale is 1:250 .

THESIS STUDY

MACRO STRATEGY

The diagram explains the strategy for the arterial link that will reconnect the area of Tophane (Karakoy) with the existing urban centrality that occurs within Taksim Square. The link will exist as a physical and theoretical route.

CONCEPTUAL VIEW

The following images expresses the basic conceptual ideas regarding the integration between the proposed turkish baths and the existing monuments that exist in the urban context of Tophane, In addition to this it also shows the physical and metaphorical link between the public square and the sunken baths.
